5 Indulgent End-of-Summer Desserts

5 Indulgent End-of-Summer Desserts

Happy September, fellow ghee (and dessert) lovers alike! Summer is sadly coming to a close, but on the flip side, late-summer produce is arguably the best of the year, and we intend to make full use of everything we can get our hands on!

We took the liberty of rounding up some delicious, indulgent desserts that you can enjoy during the last days of summer. Whether you prefer chocolate desserts, fruit desserts, or frozen desserts, there’s something on this list that’ll satisfy every one of your cravings. Enjoy, and happy cooking!

Keto S’mores Bars by @castiron_keto

Let’s be real: there’s hardly a more quintessential summer dessert than s’mores. They’re the perfect portable dessert for any outdoor summer evening activities, but they can sometimes be a little difficult to assemble. This recipe circumvents having to make many individual s’mores by making them all in one baking sheet. It’s a genius hack, and we can’t believe we didn’t think of it sooner! This recipe calls for butter, but you know what to do: just swap in 4th & Heart ghee in equal amounts, and you’ve got a winner of a dessert.

Mint Chocolate Chip Truffles by @paleorunningmomma

Mint chocolate chip is indulgent, yes, but there’s also something so refreshing about it on a hot summer evening. Enter these truffles, which are perfect little bites of mint chocolate chippy goodness. This recipe calls for coconut oil, but you can use Original or Vanilla Bean ghee in its place. These are really simple to make, and a great idea for an easy, portable, passable dessert if you’re hosting a gathering. The only issue you’ll have is trying to keep from eating the entire batch!

Paleo Peach Cobbler by @rachaelsgoodeats

This is basically late-summer distilled into the perfect dessert. It doesn’t get much better (or easier) than a peach cobbler, so why mess with perfection? This is a delicious recipe that you can also utilize for any summer fruit (think blueberries, raspberries, plums, blackberries, etc.), or you can combine them all together for a fruit medley! The possibilities are truly endless, but the only thing you need to remember is to use 4th & Heart ghee instead of the called-for coconut oil. Trust us -- after you try this cobbler, you’ll wish it was summer all year round.

Gheegan & Paleo Blueberry Scones by @whatgreatgrandmaate

Besides peaches, the other quintessential summer fruit is the humble blueberry. Some people may argue that scones are a breakfast item (and they’d be right), but they’re also a delicious dessert! These scones are flakey and absolutely packed to the brim with blueberry goodness, and would be perfect with a cup of coffee in the morning or after dinner. The recipe calls for coconut oil, but we recommend using 4th & Heart Vanilla Bean (or Original) ghee for some extra flavor. You won’t be able to have just one!

Deep Dish Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Skillet by @rachlmansfield

If you’re making a skillet cookie, chances are it’s going to be chocolate chip -- which is why we decided to switch things up and include this recipe! Oatmeal raisin cookies are another incredible, time honored dessert flavor combo that makes for an excellent substitute when you’re looking for something a little lighter than chocolate chip. We used our own Vanilla Bean ghee in this recipe, but if you’re feeling wild, you can use Chocti to really mix it up! Any way you slice it (or bake it), this dessert will have you coming back for bite after bite.
