Sweet & Spicy Mixed Nuts on a baking sheet.

Sweet & Spicy Mixed Nuts

What You'll Need:

  • 4th & Heart Ghee Spray
  • 4 cups raw, unsalted nuts
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 Tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons 4th & Heart Original Ghee, melted
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon coarse sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly grated coarse black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and spray generously with ghee spray.
  2. Add the nuts to a medium mixing bowl, and set aside.
  3. In a microwave safe bowl, combine the honey, brown sugar, and ghee. Cook for
30-second increments, stirring in between, until melted. Stir in the smoked paprika, cayenne, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Pour the warm glaze over the nuts, and toss to evenly coat. Transfer the glazed nut
mixture to the prepared baking sheet, and press into an even layer. Spray generously with ghee.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes, then carefully remove the pan from the oven, and gently stir the nuts. Return to the oven for 10 more minutes, or until the nuts are golden brown and the glaze is bubbling. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
  6. Cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes, the glaze will begin to harden.
  7. If serving warm, transfer the nuts to a few small bowls, otherwise, cool completely to enjoy later. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Notes:

For more spice, increase the cayenne pepper to ¾ teaspoon, or to your preference. For no spice, remove the cayenne pepper completely.
